Sustainable development is not built by projects alone—it is built by people. Behind every successful community initiative is a team of leaders who are willing to learn, adapt, collaborate, and inspire others.
From 19–22 August 2025, Nainawk Foundation for Development Initiatives (NFDI) had the privilege of participating in the Inter-Generational Leadership Workshop at Phi Ro Sha, Umsning, Meghalaya. The workshop brought together founders, senior leaders, programme managers, and emerging professionals from civil society organisations across Northeast India.
More than a leadership training, the workshop created a space for meaningful conversations across generations. Experienced leaders shared lessons from years of working with communities, while younger professionals contributed fresh perspectives, new ideas, and innovative approaches. The exchange reminded us that the future of the development sector depends on creating organisations where experience and innovation complement one another.
For NFDI, the workshop reaffirmed the importance of investing not only in programmes but also in people. Strong institutions are built through continuous learning, reflective leadership, and organisational cultures that encourage collaboration, accountability, and growth.
Equally valuable were the opportunities to connect with organisations working across diverse sectors and geographies. These interactions strengthened relationships, encouraged knowledge sharing, and highlighted the collective potential of civil society organisations to address complex development challenges together.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the organisers and all participating organisations, including MOSONiE Socio Economic Foundation, Gramya Vikash Mancha, Diya Foundation, The Bridge Society, Sanatan Unnayan Sangstha, Manikanchan Block Mahasangha, New Age Actors’ Theatre Foundation, Grace Society, Blind Lead Trust, Living For Environment (LiFE), Mahila Shakti Kendra, Mizoram State Positive Network (MSPN), and Ursuline Franciscan Society of North East (UFSNE), for contributing to a rich learning experience.
As NFDI continues to work towards resilient communities and inclusive development, we remain committed to strengthening leadership, fostering collaboration, and building organisations that can create lasting social impact for generations to come.
